ASGASG GOLDWATERConsulting

§ About

Honest, thoughtful support for organisations doing work that matters.

I'm Adam Goldwater, an independent cultural strategy and critical-friend consultant working with museums, heritage sites, arts organisations, schools and children's health and wellbeing organisations across the North East and beyond.

What drives my work

In a world of artificial fluency, people need authentic encounter. I help museums, galleries and heritage sites make that case: practically, evidentially and at sector level.

I'm particularly interested in the enduring power of object-based learning: the belief that authentic things, real encounters and slow, enquiry-led engagement matter more than ever in an age of digital saturation and AI-mediated knowledge.

All of it connects to the same conviction: children and young people deserve experiences that are genuine, inclusive and lasting.

How I work

I work as an independent critical friend: honest, collaborative and outcomes-focused. I get alongside teams at any stage: shaping a strategy from scratch, breathing new life into an existing programme, steering a gallery redevelopment, or simply helping a team find its footing when things feel uncertain.

Evaluation and learning aren't afterthoughts in my work. They're embedded from the start, so the experiences we create together achieve real, sustainable impact.
